A Simple Headband

Yea. Last night, after publishing the blog post, I felt like making a hair band. I am so tired of always having to wear a pony tail. See, I dislike the hair in my face. No matter how I get my hair cut, it is magnetized to my face. UGH! Well, I looked through my queued list on Ravelry, and pulled up all of the head band patterns I had, and none of them were what I had in mind. Every one was too thick. I didn't want a scarf, dammit, I wanted a small, tidy, nice headband, just to hold the hair away from my face. So, I was disgusted, and decided to make my own frigging headband. LOL! I named it "Simplicity".

It is nothing but a simple single crochet band, with a crab stitch edging added as the ties are added. And, I added ties, so I could adjust the headband if needed. This one measures about 14 inches long, excluding the ties. You will need:
"F" hook
4-ply cotton (Approximately 35 yards)
Yarn needle
Ch 83

1 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (82)
2-6 sc in each sc across. ch 1, turn. (82)

At end of row 6, ch 1, do not turn. Continue around corner, sl st in same sp as last sc, sl st in end of next 2 rows, ch 1, work crab st in 2 sl st's just made, crab stitch back across row 6, crab stitch in same sp as last crab st at corner, and in ends of next 2 rows, ch 50. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, and in rem 48 ch's. Holding tail out of the way, crab st in ends of next 2 rows, and in row 1. Turning work, crab st in same sp as last crab st at corner, and in each st across. Turning, work crab st in same sp as last crab st, and in nex 2 row ends. ch 50, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in rem 48 ch's. Sl st to first crab st of rnd, finish off. Weave in ends.
This pattern has not been tested. So, if you find any errors, please let me know. This pattern will also be offered as a free Ravelry download, once hubby converts the doc file for me.
OK. Now for my other stuff. LOL! Not much has happened around the house today, but things have been happening. The weather was awesome, cold, but awesome. I truly love a sunny day. Some electricians visited this morning, not long after 8, to switch out the meter. I suppose they want to go digital now, they took our old meter and installed a new fangled shmangled digital one. I did get the mopping done, like I had wanted to, but I also ended up going back to bed. I couldn't get warm. Also, I got a package this afternoon, from the Netherlands. yarn! LOL! Look at how pretty!
Marvyn was all over me, LOL, when I opened the box. LOLOL! LOL! As soon as he saw it, he had to play with it. I protested, because I just KNEW he would unravel it. He gave me his puppy dog eyes, and I caved hard. LOL! I handed him the box, he climbed right up on the sofa, and happily played for about 15 minutes. He is so precious! He would pick up a ball, examine and pet it,carefully lie it down, pick up the next ball, lay it behind the first, then get the last ball, and line it up behind the second one. After he was finished, he carefully chose one ball, and cradled it with his two little hands, and took it with him to "his" computer.

Now, at first, when I saw the yarn, I was thinking of what to make for myself, with this luscious yarn. But, after witnessing baby with the yarn, I think I will use it for him. He has me spoiled rotten!
No more miters had been made today. I had only made the doc file for the headband, and spent time on Ravelry. I had been sending out Valentine cards, and am now only on page 4 of 20 friends. I hope I can get them all sent. After, I will be sending them from my Care2 account. I had originally wanted to send all of my cards this morning, but the power was shut down for about 20 minutes. I had gotten distracted since.
Last night, as writing the pattern for he headband, a thought molesmacked me. If we don't get to open the Etsy shop, what am I going to do with all of the patterns that I plan on designing for sale?
Back to the miters for a moment. I realized, last night as I was making the headband, that I have more of the fingering weight cotton than I had thought! THis only makes me want to go crochet up more squares, like a mad woman!
